Copy Editing
'I need an experienced editor to identify and correct the errors,
omissions and shortcomings in my manuscript.'

Overview
Copy editing is an essential requirement for every manuscript from the latest book of a bestselling author to the first novel of an emerging author. For example, an author client holds a PhD in Creative Writing and teaches the subject to university students. Despite being an expert on the art and craft of writing, she recognizes the importance of having her own writing professionally copy edited.
To complicate matters, not all copy editors cover the same components of a manuscript. All copy editors cover the important basics of spelling, punctuation, and grammar. At Lloyd Moss, we dive deeper. In addition to the basics, we provide in-depth feedback on many other components such as active versus passive voice, repetition, syntax (sentence construction), word choices, mix of tenses, wordiness, issues with dialogue, as well as any other errors or omissions in your manuscript.
Our copy editor will identify the following issues, make the corrections and offer recommendations for further improvements:
-
Spelling errors
-
Punctuation errors and/or omissions
-
Grammatical errors or omissions
-
Sentence structure (syntax)
-
Inappropriate word choices
-
Repetition
-
Overwriting
-
Inconsistencies
-
Unrealistic dialogue
-
Factual inaccuracies
-
Overuse of certain words and phrases
-
Mix of past and present tenses
-
Continuity issues
-
Layout, e.g. paragraph size
-
Plus others, depending on the manuscript

Professional Fees
Just like every writer is unique, every manuscript is a unique proposition.
Your book cannot, therefore, be placed into a pigeonhole and assessed as having the same characteristics as any other book of the same genre and length.
To provide you with a firm quotation, we will firstly ask to inspect your manuscript, a few chapters is all we require. While the manuscript's word length is a factor, more important is the manuscript's general condition. Simply, the more editing and notations required, the more time it will take, and the consequent cost.
A couple of points to note:
-
Our fees are moderate - you will be pleasantly surprised by our quotation.
-
We observe strict confidentiality and your manuscript will be held 100% secure.

Lynne is a pleasure to work with. I found her to be an excellent copyeditor and will be using her again for my next manuscript. She identified some of my bad habits and made helpful suggestions for improvements.
She is also very knowledgeable about the publishing industry and offers sound and useful advice. In assisting me to self-publish my novel, she was proficient, professional and definitely went the extra mile.
I highly recommend Lynne’s editing services.
